| The Ranch Dance Fiddle
by Frankie McWhorter Here is some of the best western-swing dance music you'll ever hear played by one of the best fiddlers in Texas, or anywhere else for that matter. Frankie McWhorter has been fiddling these old tunes since the 1920s, either in his own band, Bob Wills' band, or a number of put-together bands for one night dances. These are all treasured classics, and the extra fine touch that Frankie puts on them makes this album a little bit extra special. Produced by Texas fiddler Lanny Fiel, who is a dedicated fan and student of McWhorter, this album contains such wonderful tunes as "Comin' Through the Rye," "Red Wing," "Forsaken Lover," "Ten Pretty Girls," "Blue Skirt Waltz," and 13 others just as fun to listen to. And making things even better are the top professional musicians backing Frankie up. Those include Lanny Fiel, Tommy Allsup, Tommy Morrell, Curley Hollingsworth, Jim Benjamin, Bobby Koefer, Leon Rausch on vocals, and Frankie's son Larry on clarinet. Wow! Get this one for sure. |
